Things are still good here... calm. Frustratingly slow on the fitness/weightloss front. I knew it was going to be hard but I think I underestimated how hard. We've signed up for a 10k in December so hopefully having an actual training plan will help lay down some guidelines. We're both nervous about the race, Ed because of the Guillain Barre and me because of this new body, but I think it'll be really good for us. Ed's been busy, as I'm sure you've guessed, with all the new products just announced. His friend Kirk was just in town and it was really nice having a friend around for us to catch up with.
I'm still trying to get reading in... I'm further along in my GoodReads challenge than I thought I'd be (22 books in), but no where near the 60 goal. I knew it was high when I set it so I'm not too disappointed. It helps that one of my favorite series just released the third book in the trilogy, The Magicians Trilogy by Lev Grossman. It's awesome. I know I've written about it before - a series like Harry Potter, but with sex, drugs, and personal mediocrity that's true to real life. It's fantastic.
We're planning our fall trips and I am getting unreasonably excited. An October reunion in Kansas with my Omi's family. A Thanksgiving with Dad and Debbie. And of course, our Christmas trip to Maryland. I'm so excited I could burst. It's kind of a good thing because it's distracting me from the anxiety of traveling with the Munchkin.
As always there's much more going on and I'm attempting to post more. I won't update it on Facebook when I post things other than the monthly baby updates. On to the pictures!
What We Are Like:
Growing so fast. So fast. All of a sudden we seem like a big kid. It's all wonderful. She's expressive and funny and bashful when she wakes up from naps. She has very clear 'no' cries, especially when she would prefer to not be put down. They are short lived though. She's so close to crawling, but still doing the head-down scoot. She loves standing at her little gym and on the bottom of the kiddie pool. Swimming is still a favorite activity. She's getting a biiiit more comfortable with strangers again. Brian and Michelle come to visit soon so we're hoping that trend keeps up! Still very vocal and everyday I think it will be the day she starts to say something coherent. We're teething now for sure, chewing on anything and everything. She's wearing 9 month sized long sleeve onesies and 6 month sized short sleeve onesies.
We Like:
* Sweet Potato! Especially sweet potato with cinnamon. And eating solids in general. It's all very exciting for her and she's constantly begging for food just like the cats do.
Food please. |
* Being rocked into sleepytimes in the K'tan. She doesn't need it every time, but it's a very comfortable place for her and an easy transition to the crib
* My singing! Yay. This one makes me so happy. We love lullabies.... especially Your Song, Don't Go To Sleep, and Baby Mine. Sometimes I throw in some Sweet Baby James too.
* Chewing on Mom's face. Yeah, she uses my jawbone as her chew toy pretty much all the time. It's how I am greeted.
* Pulling and pinching. She's working on her fine motor skills, but she's practicing on my hair and Ed's arm hair. It's quite painful. She also enjoys pulling on my neck fat while breastfeeding. Boy, do babies keep you humble.
* She LOVES the cats. If she could get to them and follow them around she would do that all day. So far we've only had one pulled tail and it did not end in catastrophe.
We Don't Like:
* Avocado. I couldn't stop laughing but she looked so utterly distressed at the taste.
